Our carpet runners in action

Taped, dressed and photographed before the first guest arrived.

Where carpet runners are used

Two things happen at once when a runner goes down: people learn where to walk, and the walk becomes worth a photograph. Around Winnipeg, here is where ours land:

  • Red-carpet arrivals

The whole route from kerb or lobby into the room, with posts either side holding media and guests apart.

  • Galas & award nights

Usually three walks in one evening: the way in, the approach to a step-and-repeat, and reception through to the ballroom.

  • Product launches & brand activations

Doorways and the approach to a display — and far more often in a brand colour than in red.

  • Premieres & press walls

A lane marked at the wall itself, putting talent on the right mark and keeping the photo line orderly.

  • Film & TV shoots

A set entrance that has to pass for a real one on camera, with the walked line landing identically on every take.

  • Weddings & VIP entrances

Down the aisle, along the receiving line, and through whichever door the whole room has its phones aimed at.

Choosing a colour

Say the words “carpet runner” and everybody pictures red, which is precisely the reason to use it: premieres, awards nights and classic arrivals work because no explanation is required.

Bring up green or navy when the colour has work of its own — matching an activation to a logo, a seasonal treatment, or a formal evening that wants the occasion without red’s theatre. Black is the one that recedes: quiet in a dark room, well-behaved on camera, and never in an argument with a brand palette. White is for weddings and daylight rooms, reading cleanly against a pale floor. Undecided? Describe the floor and the lighting and we will tell you which one is going to register.

Posts nearly always travel out alongside the carpet, which makes them a single decision rather than two. Take rope stanchions → for velvet and drape, or belt stanchions → if that same route also has a working queue on it.

How much carpet runner you need

Pace out the route people genuinely take — kerb to room, door to entry — and give us that number. The cut follows your measurement, so there is no stock size sitting there to round up against.

Width follows the arrival. Single file, with the runner mainly showing the way? 4 ft does it. Two abreast, a press wall waiting at the end, or photographers needing to work the sides without standing on the carpet? That is 6 ft.

FAQ

How much does it cost to rent carpet runners in Winnipeg?

Because nothing is held in stock lengths, the price answers three questions: which width, how far the walk goes, and how many days it stays down. Anything beyond a single runner is joined, and once taped you would have to hunt for the seam — the quote follows the finished distance rather than the number of pieces. Send measurements and one itemised figure comes back.

Do runners go outside?

Constantly. A good share of what we lay never sees the inside of a building at all. Professional double-sided tape holds the edges flat so no heel catches one, and it lifts afterwards leaving the surface underneath unmarked.

What lengths can I order?

None are held, because each one is cut to order. Walk from the door to the entry, tell us that distance, and that is exactly what arrives. Neither 4 ft nor 6 ft changes any of this.

How long can a single run be?

As long as you need. Past a single runner it is handled by joining them, and after taping the seam all but disappears. Give us the total and working out the pieces is our job.

Does an odd-shaped route rule a runner out?

Very rarely. Steps partway along, a dog-leg, a route that turns twice on its way to the room — all workable. It only changes where the cuts and the joins fall. Send measurements with a rough sketch and we will tell you what is possible.

Which width should we take?

Look at how guests reach the door. Arriving one at a time with the runner marking the way — 4 ft is enough. Arriving two at a time, or with a photo wall at the far end, or with camera crews needing space at the sides — take 6 ft.

Do you lay it down and collect it afterwards?

Both journeys are inside the order rather than arranged separately. Give us the address and the hours the venue allows access, and the schedule is built to fit them.

How far ahead do runners need booking?

Award season and the summer wedding stretch are when these leave the building fastest, so those weekends deserve settling early. Everything outside them has no cut-off — send the dates and the walked length and we will tell you what is possible.

Is installation part of it?

Your choice, not a default. Either the crew arrives before doors to lay it, tape it and set the posts either side, or the delivery stops at the door and your own people take over.
