Why rope stanchions for a permanent installation
There is a statement in a rope line that a belt line simply cannot make — namely, that this is the front of the building. It goes in once and then stays put, which turns the posts into part of the room’s appearance even on the days nobody queues at all.
The decision between the three finishes, on a permanent installation, is nearly always about the room rather than the hardware. Warm interiors of timber, brass and carpet take gold, which reads traditional. Chrome is the contemporary one and needs light to bounce off, so it belongs in a glass lobby and not in a dim one. Black sinks into a dark floor and hands the whole look over to the rope.
Standardising on one post across several floors or several sites keeps everything consistent, and no minimum order stands in the way of doing it. Velvet ropes are sold on their own in any quantity too, so a rope that has had a hard year never means buying a post to go with it.
